Free beta and membership

  • The initial beta is for learners aged 18 or over who can enter this free service agreement under the law where they live. Create an account before learning. Age is self-declared; we do not verify an ID or collect a birthday. Learners under 18 cannot join this beta.
  • Choose up to two titles, each with three assigned words. Starting a title fixes your choice. Trial words remain free to review while you maintain your account.
  • Paid membership and payments are not available yet. Joining does not start a charge. Prices, renewal, cancellation and refund terms will be provided before any paid purchase.
  • Keep your Google account secure and return with the same sign-in provider. Accounts are not merged by email. Please do not submit other people’s personal data in learning answers or misuse the service. Contact us about access problems or incorrect records.

Content sources and reuse

Dictionary portions supplied under an open license retain the reuse rights granted by that license. General service conditions do not restrict those rights. See the source notice for attribution, changes, separate media conditions and rights inquiries.

Account and learning data

A random nickname does not make your account anonymous. Login identifiers and linked learning records are personal data. We process the minimum data needed to respond to your sign-in request and provide the free account and saved learning you request, rather than treating optional analytics as essential account processing.

DataPurposeRetention
Google provider and subject, verified sign-in email, internal ID, automatic nicknameSign-in, account continuity and member administrationUntil account deletion. An unfinished signup identity is eligible for automatic cleanup after 24 hours.
18+ declaration, terms version and time, privacy notice acknowledgement, display languageEligibility, agreement records and displayUntil account deletion
Titles, word IDs, progress, unfinished answers, recall results, study timesRestore learning, schedule review and show progressTrial history until account deletion; paid history for 12 calendar months after subscription expiry

Scheduled memory checks evaluate your first answer, whether you used help and whether you recalled independently. The learning system uses those results and your previous review interval to schedule the next check after 1, 3, 7 or 14 days. These results and review dates are saved to your account. Extra practice does not change an existing scheduled date. This learning function operates separately from the optional demographic survey and content-planning analysis.

The legal basis for necessary account processing is providing the service agreement or taking steps at your request before it: Korean PIPA Article 15(1)(4), and GDPR Article 6(1)(b) where applicable. If you do not request this processing, we cannot provide an account or saved learning. Optional survey processing requires separate consent.

Google sign-in requests openid and email permissions. From October 25, 2026, the verified sign-in email is stored for member administration and displayed only to authorized administrators. Existing accounts are updated on their next Google sign-in. Email is never used to merge accounts or grant administrator access, and is not included in our session or application logs. We do not store your Google name, photo, birthday, phone number or access/refresh tokens. Google operates its authentication service under its own privacy policy.

Optional survey and learning analysis

New survey collection is paused until the international processing notice and separate consent are ready. Skipping does not change the six-word trial or free trial-word review. Existing answers are not changed automatically, and withdrawal remains available.

When available, gender, age band and country of residence will each be optional. Only separately consented answers will be linked with title/word progress and recall results for content and service planning. We do not infer residence from IP addresses or use raw typed answers for demographic analytics. We do not sell survey answers or use them for advertising profiles.

Manage or withdraw survey consent in My learning → Optional survey & consent. Withdrawal removes the answers from the active member record; learning progress and trial access remain. Survey answers are otherwise retained until withdrawal or account deletion. Older answers without the current consent record are not treated as consent to a new purpose.

Hosting and international processing

Cloudflare, Inc. provides Workers hosting and D1 account storage. Contact: privacyquestions@cloudflare.com. R2 stores approved learning media, not member-record copies. Cloudflare also handles network connection metadata needed to deliver and protect the service.

Signing in and using saved learning sends the account and learning data described above to Cloudflare over an encrypted connection when you use the service. Cloudflare has confirmed that the current APAC database status is not a country guarantee and that default Workers request processing can take place across its global network. A complete country list for our database and recovery data, request processing and overseas support access has not been confirmed. Processing is not restricted to Korea or the United States. We are continuing to clarify the country scope and transfer arrangements; this notice does not claim that those questions are resolved. If you do not want this processing, you can choose not to create an account or delete an existing account.

Regional privacy contacts

Genectiv is based in the Republic of Korea and currently has no business establishment, permanent staff or appointed privacy representative in the EEA or the UK. Regional representation arrangements remain under review. Our current privacy contact is contact@genectiv.com. This contact is operated by Genectiv and is not an appointed EEA or UK representative.

Cookies and security

Encrypted, Secure, HttpOnly session cookies keep you signed in for up to 30 days. Short-lived state, nonce and PKCE cookies protect sign-in. Temporary abuse counters use keyed hashes of network or verified account identifiers, rotating every 10 minutes; raw IPs are not saved in these counters or our member database. Counters are a best-effort protection, not continuous location tracking. Hosting providers may process their own connection records.

Expiry, deletion and restoring history

After a paid term expires, words learned while subscribed can be reviewed free for one calendar month. Paid history is retained for 12 calendar months from that expiry date. Resubscribing before the deadline restores retained history; at the deadline it is removed from the active database and trial history is retained. Calendar periods use UTC and clamp missing month-end dates. Account deletion takes priority over this retention period.

Account deletion removes the active login identity, learning history and survey answers. D1 recovery records may persist for the provider’s recovery window, up to 30 days on a paid plan. Active deletion does not mean immediate deletion of every recovery record. Recovery records are not used for normal learning or analytics. Any recovery must reapply account deletions, survey withdrawals and expired paid-history removal before service resumes.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can review saved progress, withdraw survey answers, sign out, or delete your account from My learning. Editing survey answers will be available when collection resumes. For access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability where applicable, contact us. We verify ownership through an existing signed-in account where possible; do not email passwords, verification codes or identity documents.

We respond within applicable legal deadlines (normally one month for GDPR requests, with any lawful extension explained). You may complain to the Korean Personal Information Protection Commission or the competent authority where you live. We do not make automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects using your survey answers.

If you believe we have mishandled your personal data, you can make a privacy complaint to contact@genectiv.com. We acknowledge UK data protection complaints within 30 days and investigate, keep you informed and explain the outcome without undue delay. A complaint does not extend the separate deadline for an access, deletion or other rights request.
